The Information of John Laithwait< no role > of
No. 104 Grays Inn Lane Watch case
maker and William Tracey< no role > of Portsmouth
Common Broker taken before me this
7th. day of February 1780

Who being upon Oath says and first the said John Laithwait< no role >
for himself saith, that on the 1st. day of April 1779 he was present
will his Brother (who is his Partner) in their Shop in Grays Inn
Lane and saw his said Brothers pack up Thirty pair of silver
Watch Cases, two pair of Gold Case & two Gold Pendants in a
a deal boxSaith he desired John Nevill< no role > his Servant the
same Evening to carry the said Deal box of Watch cases and
pendants to the Swan with two Neeks in Lad Lane Saith
that Nevill came back the same Evening and said he had
left the said Box of Watch Cases, but that the Coach that
went to Liverpool (where this Informant had directed the
said Box) did not go out, till the next Evening Saith
that he doth verily believe a pair of Silver Watch Cases now produced
are one of the pair of silver Watch Cases so packed up and
slut as aforesaid. And the said William Tracey< no role > for himself
saith that he is a Constable at Portsmonth, that he searched
the Appartments of a person now present who calls himself
James Hardwicke< no role > at the Blue Ports Inn at Portsmouth
Point, and in a Bay hung up in said Appartment, he
found a pair of Silver Watch cases now produced
which said cases said Hardwick said were a pair of the Cases, meaning (as this Informant [..]
then understood, a pair of the Cases stolen as aforesaid
