mentioned used duly elected to the Office of one of the Constable in and for the said
Ward for one whole Year then next ensuring and untill another Person should be
elected into the said Office for the preserving the peace of our said Sovereign Lord
the King and for the apprehending of Rogues Vagabond & other Suspicious
Person within the Ward afsd. for the Public Good And that the said Hugh
Johnson afterward to wit on the same 21st. day of December in Year afsd.
at the Parish afsd. in the wardafsd. had Notice there of & then & shown
was duly required to appear / among others) in the said Court hold before the
Mayor & Alderman of the sd City of London in the Guildhall of the same
City on Monday next after the Feast of the Epiphany then next following &
now last past there to take his Corporal Oath for the dew Execution of
the said Office and to execute the sd. Office nevertheless [..]
Hugh Johnson little regarding his said Duty in this behalf but intending
and endeavouring totally to neglect & omit the dew Execution of his said
Office after the his said Election to the sd. Office to wit on the said Monday next
after the Feast of the Epiphany and continually afterward untill the day of the
taking of this Inquisition / altho often requested) to wit at the parish afsd.
in the ward [..] afsd. hath altogether Voluntarily Obstinately & Contemptously
refused & denied and yet to therefore & deny to take his said Oath for the due
Execution of his said Office or to executed his said Office in any manner
contrary to his said Duty In manifest Contempt of our said Lord the
now King and his Laws To the great Kind came of Justice So the bad Example of all others in the like
