MIDDLESEX COMMITMENTS.

25 Eleanor Morrission< no role > , from New-prison , committed by G. Mercer on oath of Sarah Trimm< no role > and others, for stealing in her ready furnished
lodgings one pair of sheets, a blanket, a copper tea-kettle, Etc. the pro-
perty of William Trimm< no role > . Dated Aug. 4, 1778.

26 James Birch< no role > , from New-prison , committed by W. Addington on
oath of Charles Jealous< no role > , on suspicion; that having been convicted of
felony, and adjudged to the kept to hard labour in raising sand, soil and
gravel from, and cleansing the river Thames , has escaped from the
person having the lawful custody of him before the expiration of the
term for which he was so ordered to hard labour. Dated Aug. 4, 1778.

Detained by Sir John Fielding< no role > , Knt . on oath of John Marshal< no role > ; for that he
the said James Birch< no role > having been, at the session of gaol delivery of
Newgate holden for the city of London at Justice-Hall in the Old Bailey
in the month of January last, convicted of felony, and ordered and ad-
judged to be kept to hard labour for the term of 3 years in raising
sand, soil and gravel from, and cleansing the river Thames , Etc. did
escape from the persons having the lawful custody of him before the
expiration of the term for which he was so ordered to hard labour-

27 James Beach< no role > , from New-prison , committed by W. Blackborow, Esq;
on oath of John Marshall< no role > ; for that he being convicted of petit larceny
at the general session of the peace held for the county of Middlesex at
Hicks's Hall on the 4th of December, 1776, was sentenced and sent to
hard labour for the term of 5 years, in raising sand, soil and gravel from,
and cleansing the river Thames , at a certain place of confinement ap-
pointed by virtue of an act passed in the 16th year of his present Ma-
jesty's reign; did escape from the said place of confinement, and out of
the custody of the person having the lawful custody of him before the
expiration of the said term for which he was so sentenced as aforesaid.
Dated Aug. 8, 1778.

28 Mary Price< no role > , from New-prison , committed, and also detained by J. Girdler,
Esq; on oath of Rebecca Dell< no role > , upon suspicion of stealing out of the
dwelling-house of George Dell< no role > 2 aprons, 2 handkerchiefs, 3 caps, one
shift, and other things his property. Dated Aug. 8 and 10, 1778.

and S. Wright. Esq; on oath of Mary Verioder< no role > and others, for felo-
niously, unlawfully, and carnally knowing and abusing Jane East< no role > , a
woman child under the age of 10 years. Dated Aug. 12, 1778.

30 Elizabeth Underwood< no role > , from New-prison , committed by J. Staples, Esq;
on oath of Benjamin Guier< no role > , for stealing 30s. in silver, his property.
Dated Aug, 12, 1778.

31 John Best< no role > , from New-prison , committed by S. Wright, Esq ; on oath of
Daniel Pool< no role > and another, for stealing a silver watch. Dated Aug. 13. 1778.

32 Margaret Filston< no role > , from New-prison , committed by D. Wilmot, Esq;
on oath of Thomas Hunt< no role > , on suspicion of stealing a silver watch, a
silver table spoon, 5 tea spoons, a pair of silver buckles, Etc. Dated
Aug. 18, 1778.
