Who being upon Oath say and first the said John Rawlinson< no role >
for himself says that he is one of the Receivers at the Excise
Office, that on Friday the 20th of December last he left his
Office about 3 oClock and left in his Desk locked up Gold
Silver & Halfpence to the amount of £28. 12 0. that when
he returned the next day he found that his Dash had been
broke open & the said Money taken away. Says that the
greatest part of said Money was in Gold and amongst
the said Girl were several new half Guineas. Says that
a person now present who calls himself William Lacey< no role >
is
Son to one of the Fire Lighters belonging to said Office And
as he has been informed and verily believes attended at the
said Office at this time to Assist his Father who was Ill
And the said Henry Rogers< no role >
for himself says that on Saturday
evening the 21st of Decemr. last the said Wm Lacey< no role >
came to the
Roe Buck in Bridges Street
Covent Garden
& had a Wiled Rabbit
and a Pint of Beer says he asked the Mistress of the house
of the wanted any half Guineas, that the said Lacey after
wardsthe next dayleft 8 new half Guineas with this
Informant which he restored to him the next day. Says that
at that time he told him that something had been done which
would make great Noise & that an Advertisement would be
