John Galwith< no role > of Saint George's Row in the County
of Surry Stablekeeper maketh Oath that on or about the
nineteenth day of July One thousand seven hundred
and seventy four one Mark Ebblewhite< no role > brought a Bay
Stone Horse to stand at Livery with this Deponent at the
Angel Inn in Fleet Market London and he continued at
Livery there until on or about the twenty second of said
Month of July when a Person came and desired this
Deponent's Head ostler John Dean< no role > to let himthe said
take the said Horse away and he would pay the Expences
of his Keep upon which the said John Dean acquainted
this Deponent therewith Whereupon this Deponent
told the Person who so came for said Horse that he
should not deliver him to any Person without a written
Order from the said Mark Ebblewhite upon which
such Person informed this Deponent that the said
Mark Ebblewhite was not then far off and he could
seen get same and accordingly went away and shortly
afterwards brought an Order in Writing in the Words and
Figures or to the effect following, that is to say, "Please
"to deliver to the Bearer the Bay Stone Horse and he
"will Pay the Expences-July 22d. 1774. by me. Mark
"Ebblewhite-at the Angel in Fleet Market" And this
Deponent Saith that in pursuance of such order the
said Bay Stone Horse was delivered to such Person
who brought the said Order who paid six Shillings for
his keep And this Deponent further Saith that in or
about Michaelmas Term last past the said Mark
Ebblewhite brought an Action in his Majesty's Court of
King's Bench against this Deponent and the same
came on to be [..] tried in such Courtafterat the
Sittings after said Michaelmas Term last in
Westminster Hall when it appeared that the said
Order was forged and the said Mark Ebblewhite
thereupon recovered against this Deponent on such
Tryalinthe Sum of thirty seven Pounds as and for
