The Information of Thomas Hardy< no role > taken before
me this 8th. day of January 1757 .

Who being upon Oath says that on the 6th. day of this Incident January he
went on board the Hunter Tender lying off the Tower , and there saw William
Martin
< no role > an Impressed Man on board the said Tender, who deined this
Informant to go to Newgate to deliver to one George Jeffries< no role > then a
Prisoner a Particular Messages, which was, That he meaning she said
William Martin< no role > was Pressed, therefore could not do she affair
himself, But that this Informant would do as well, Upon
which this Informants went to Newgate and there saw the said
George Jeffries< no role > , And told him what Martin had said,
Upon which she said suppries askd this Informant if he might
be depended upon, To Which he answered Ye's, And this
Informant says that at the time When he saw Jeffries, a Person
now Present who calls himself Charles Buttler< no role > , came into
the Tapp at Newgate , When this Informant, and the said
Jeffrieswhowere, And the sd Charles Buttler< no role > askd. the said
Jeffries who he was (meaning this Informant) to which he
answered an said, he is an honest Fellow, and may be depended
upon, Says that after drinking all Bottle of Wine in Company
with George Jeffries< no role > , Thomas Hardy< no role > , Bathall , and two others,
they all went up Stairs together, when Jeffries ask'd this Informant
if it was Possible to get thro' that Window, pointing at a Window
in the Tapp Room, saying that was the Window that Jack
Shepperd
< no role > made his Escape, To Which this Informant told him,
he thought it was impossible, by that he had nothing to do but to
plead Guilty & put himself upon the Henry of this Court, And
this Informant says that notwithstanding which she said Jeffries
said there was a Possibilaty of making their Escape in the
Lodge whilst they where at Dinner by lying the People in this
Lodge and letting themselves out, Says that therefore the said
Thomas Hardy< no role > call's this Informant aside by the doesnt of Jeffries
to make this Informant a Christian, And took him up Stairs an
the Masters side and or Presence to one a Jackett, And when they
came there the said Hardy show'd him a Box in which was
a Beace of Pistols, with some other things wraped in a Cloath
