To the Right Honourable Sir Edward Bellamy< no role > knight Lord mayor
of the City of London and to the Worshipfull his Majestys Justices
of the peace for the said City in their General Quarter Sessions of
the peace Assembled.

The Humble Petition and Appeal of Burrell Blythe< no role >
an Inhabitant of the parish of Christ Church London

Sheweth.


That your Petitioner is an Inhabitant of the said parish of Christ
Church and an occupyer of one house within the said parish the Rent and
Taxes of which are paid by your Petitioner who for the Year One Thousand
Seven hundred and Thirty there hath been rated by the Church Wardens and
Overseers of the said parish in much larger Sumes of money than he ought
to have been towards the Releif of the poor of the said parish which said Rate
or Assessment your Petitioner humbly Conceives in an many respects
Unequall Arbitrary and Illegall and Particularly for that diverse
Inhabitants and Occupyers of houses within the said parish some of which
pay as large and others much larger Rents than your Petitioner whose
Circumstances Do exceed or at least Equall your Petitioners have for that
year been Rated in much less sumes of money than your Petitioner And
your Petitioner further Sheweth that the Church wardens and Overseers
of the poor of the said parish for the said year One Thousand Seven hundred
and Thirty three have made up their Amounts for the said year and procured
the same to be Allowed Nothwithstanding many Charges and disbursements
are therein contained which Are contrary to Law and ought not to have
been allowed by reason whereof great Sumes of money which ought
to have been applyed to the Releif of the poor of the said parish are
made use of and disburst for other purposes then by Law they ought
to be and thereby the Charge upon the Inhabitants of the said parish And
particularly upon your petitioner is Greatly Increased And the Rate
thereby become much more burden some And as your Petitioner Conceives
illegall by reason of such Unwarantable overcharge

Your Petitioner therefore conceiving himself greatly
Aggreived by the Rate or Assessment So made by the Churchwardens
And Overseers of the said Parish for and towards the necessary
Releife of the poor of the said parish Humbly prays that the said
Rate may be Quashed And the said Accounts disallowed And
that your Petitioner may be Releived in the premisses in such
manner as to this Court shall Seem just and fitting

And your Petitioner shall ever pray Etc.
