The Examinacon of Peter Wallis< no role > of Bishopps

of September 1693

This Examint Saith that about Wedesday last (as nere as he remem-
bers) one George Atkins< no role > who lives in White Fryers came and
informed this Examint: that one Sara Arnold< no role > was a Clipper of
money, whereupon this Exaiant went and acquainted Mr Thomas
Cooke
< no role > thereof he being then atthe White Horse Fleete
Streete,
his Lodgings in Fetter lane , and Mr Cooke ordered this
Examint: to find her out if he could, and thereupon this Exaiant
found her at the Butchers Armes in Southwarke on fryday Morneing last and there
said Sara told this Exaiant that if he would helpe heir to some
broad Money for Clipt money she would allow him three
Shillings in the pound for it, thereupon this Exaiant told her
he would bring her thirtie pound of broad money, and she
Ordered him to bring it to the signe of the three Neates tongues
upon London bridge , and in the meane time this Examt went
and acquainted the said Mr Cooke wth it, he being then at ye while
White horse Inn in Fleets Streete, thereupon the said Mr Cooke
and this Exaimt: went to seize upon the said Sara Arnold< no role >
and goeing a long mett wth one Ireland and another Man wth
him whome Mr Cooke desired to goe wth him, thereupon this
Exaiant and the said Mr Cooke went to the three Neates
tongues aforesd, and seeing the said Sara sitting in a roome
Shewed her to the said Mr Cooke, then Mr Cooke went into
the house to her but she denied her name and went out
of the house and he brought her back againe, and searched
her (as he afterwards told this Exaiant) but his Exaiant was
not by when he searched her; then this Examint: left ye
said Mr Cooke at ye house aforesd and was goeing home,
but Mr Cooke followed this Exaiant and overtooke him upon
the Bridge and told this Exaiant that he had search her
and found nothing about her but four Guinneas then
this Examint. said, he believed her sister had ye Clipt money
about her, and as this Exaiant and the said Cooke were
goeing along he Espied ye sister in the streete standing
at ye foot of the Bridge then the said Cooke tooke her
by the hand and ledd her into ye Rodd Cross ale house and
what the said Cooke die wth her there this Exaiant
knoweth not, but left him there and went about his
business
