Watchman belongg. to the Parish of St. Giles's that on
Thursdy. the 29th. of October last about Two o'Clock in the
Morng. as he was going up Dyott Street coming by a
Dust Waggon he found a Hammer Cloth in such Waggon
he examined the same & the Prisoner Henry Holmes< no role > came
up to him & told him it was his Property & desired him
to leave it there he then asked the Prisoner what he
wanted with it there to which he replyed to wrap it
about me because I am lockt out of my Lodging I lodge
at Mr. Riley's in Church Lane dont you know me upon
wch. sd. Welch then called to another Watchmen at the
Bottom of the Street to come to his Assistance & then
told here's a Man claims The Property of this Cloth
let us take him to the Watch house he then gave the
Prisoner in Charge to Daniel Daley< no role > the other Watchman
who took the Prisoner to the Watch House & he took
the Hammer Cloth to Mr. Oxlee's Coach Yard where
his Servant Wm. Osborne< no role > was and claimed the same
being his Master's

Daniel Daley< no role > for himself saith that he is a Watchman
belonging to St. Giles that William Welch< no role > another Watchman
on Thursday the 29th. of October last abt. Two o Clock in
the Morning called to him as he was standing upon the
Shafts of a Waggon at the Bottom of Dyott Street and had
hold of a Hammer Cloth in his Hands and upon coming to
him asked what was the Matter he answered I have
