The Information of Mary Pearson< no role > and John Pearson< no role > taken on
Oath the Second day of November 1789 before
me one of his Majesty's Justices of the Peace
for the County of Middlesex

Who Saith That on the Thirty first day of October last
about seven o'Clock in the Evening as she was sitting
behind the Counter in her Shop at No. 4 in the City road
in the Parish of Saint Leonard Shoreditch , she heard one
of the Squares of Glass in the Shop Window break, she
then looked to the Window and there she [..] saw James
Mann
< no role > the Prisoner now under Examination attempting
to take out Ten Yards of Cotton which lay close to the
Square which he had broken, she instantly get up
and hollowed out Stop Thief upon Which her husband
John Pearson< no role > who was in the Adjoining Room, ran thro
the Shop into the Road and Pursued the run who was at
the Window And Saith that on her alarm he ran away
and took with him through the hole of the Window a
Silk Handkerchief which is Produced by James
Shak

This Informant John Pearson< no role > Saith that on the [..]
Thirty first day of October last about Seven o'Clock in the Evening he the
being at home and hearing his Shop Window Break he ran through
the Shop and his wife calling out Stop thief and going out of his house
into the Road he called [..] Stopp thief and saw a Man Running
along which was the same man he saw at his Shop Window and
saw him taken Silk Handkerchief out of his Shop Window aforesaid
this Informant and one Robert Pearce< no role > pursued him and overtook
him in a field and brought him back to this Informant house
and searched him and his hand was cut and bloody, but did not
then find any Property on him, he was then delivered up to a Constable
and this Informant with two others went to the Place in the field
where they took the man and there they found the Silk Handkerchief
that was stolen out of his Shop as aforesaid And further Saith
that a Silk Handkerchief now produced by James Shake< no role > shaft
a Peace Officer is his Property and the same that was Stolen as
aforesaid And the said James Mann< no role > the Prisoner is the same
man that he saw at his Shop Window
