Wisbeach Cambridgeshire< no role > Bargeman
William Ward< no role > at No 21 Little Mary lebone
Street Carpenter, and William Rowles< no role > at
No 90 Petty France Westminster Labourer
taken on Oath before me this 10th. day of
September 1789.

Who being on Oath severally say, and first the said
Thomas Ward< no role > for himself says that this morning as he was returning
from the Court Yard at Saint James intotheone of the Narrow
Passages of the Palace he was Surrounded by a number of
Persons some of whom shoved him very Violently and picked
his Pocket of Nine Guineas in Goldandsome Silver
amounting as he beleives to about Twenty Shillings and two
Keys all contained in a Purse and from several Circumstances
he beleives the person now preset who calls himself John
Bains
< no role > to have been Concerned in the said Felony And the
said William Ward< no role > for himself says that he was with his
father at this time in the Court Yard St. James's where he
observed the said John Baines< no role > and two other Men near
his father and take great notice of him and upon his fathers
going into the Narrow Passage they followed him and where
he observed said John Bains< no role > shove against his father
that upon his fathers coming out of the Croud he asked him
if he had been robbed of his Watch who replied that he had
not, but that he had been Robbed of his Money and his
Pocket turned inside out, that upon a Gentleman who
