Taken the 23rd: day of March 1786
Who upon his Oath Saith that he was delivering
Beer from and out of a Dray belonging to his Master
about one oClock this day at several Houses and Hop'd
nearly Opposite the House of Mr. Tilneys Haberd as her
corner of King Street
High Holborn
That he then
saw a person now in Custody who says his Name is
William Screw< no role >
lurking about the Street and he had
Suspicious the said William Screw< no role >
meant to Steal
One of the Casks whereupon he watchd him and saw
him Take an Eighteen Barrell Cask away from the side
of the Dray at the same time he appeared to be looking about
to see if any person was watching him that he Carried it
from the dray to the end of Kingsgate Street
which is
about 20 or 30 Yards and was proceeding to Carry the
Cask up the Street when upon seeing this Informant
pursue him he put the cask down and sat himself
upon the head of the cask That he then Took him into
Custody and the said William Screw< no role >
said he Took the
Cask to lit upon That the said Cask was upon the
Dray at the time he left it and is of the Value of
Six Shillings and the property of the said Joseph Kirkman< no role >
