Chapel Carpenter John Haskew< no role > of Petticoat Lane London
Plumber and I William Cobb< no role > of Report Street White James Mathews < no role > of Catherine Wheel Alley White
Chapel Tmitthis Taken before me John Staples< no role > Esquire one
of His Majesty's Justices of the Peace in and for the
said County this Second day of February 1785

Who being on their Oath say and First the said John
Langley
< no role > for himself saith that a Quantity of Lead hath been
Stolen & out from off the Gutter of a House belonging to this Informant
Situate in Gowers Walk White Chapel since Friday last and
that the length of the Gutter or Place so Stripped is
Fifteen Feet

And the said John Haskew< no role > for himself saith that he is a
Plumber that about two Months ago he took Measure
and put up a Quantity of Lead on Two Houses belonging
to the said John Langley< no role > in Gowers Walk White Chapel
thathefrom the MeasureandDimensions and this Mark of the weight thereon aforesaid of the
Lead now Produced by James Mathews< no role > bebelieves
is certain the sameto beis part of the Lead he so put up on the
Houses of the said John Langley< no role > as aforesaid
And the said William Cobb< no role > for himself saith that he
is a Patrol in White Chapel High Street That about
half an Hour after five o'Clock on Saturday morning
last he saw the Person now present who Says his
Name is Thomas Jones< no role > hiswheeling a Barrow
across White Chapel High Street towards Castle Alley
Thathe asa Boy was with him with a Bundle on his
his Head Saith that he Stopped the said Thomas Jones< no role >
and the said Boy and with the assistance of a
Watchman took them both towards White Chapel withWater
ChapelHouse where the said Boy escaped and the said
Thomas Jones< no role > endeavoured to escape but was
retaken Saith that part of the Lead now Produced was
in the Barrow which the said Thomas Jones< no role > was
wheeling as aforesaid andthe otherPart thereof on
the Head of the said Boy who escaped
