Middlesex to wit.


The Information of Robert Currie< no role > of No. 11 in
the Crescent in the Minories , Stewards of the
Ship Venus , William Buncomb< no role > of the same
place Captain of the said Ship Venus, and
Patrick Mc Manus< no role > taken before me this 19th
day of October 1784.

Who being upon Oath say, and First the said Robert Currie< no role >
says that in the Night of Friday the 8th: of October instant
a Number of Persons armed with Pistols and Cutlasses came
on board the ship Venus lying upon a certain Navigable river
in the said County called the River Thames ; That two of said
Persons forced their way into the Cabbin where this Informant
was then lying in his Cot leaving a third on the outside of the
Cabbin Door- That they told this Informant if he spoke
a Word they would blow his Brains out and ordered him
to lie stile; That said Men Robbed said ship of four Trunks
containing a pair of Paste Knee buckles set in Silver now produced a Silver
Stock Buckle a Gold Ring a Quantity of Wearing Apparel and other things the
Property of the said William Buncomb< no role > ; And further says that
he is very sure that a person now present who calls himself
George Wood< no role > is one of the personsandthat stood at the Cabbin
Door and Robbed the said Ship; and that he doth verily believe
SW. from the Voice that a [..] person now present who calls himself William Giles< no role > is
SW. another of the persons who robbed the said Ship that the [..] stood in the Cabbin
threatning to blow his Brains out [..]

Buncomb
< no role > says that he is very sure that the said pair of Paste
Knee buckles are his property and were Stolen from on board
the said Ship together with the other Articles as aforesaid.
And the said Patrick Mc Manus says that on Tuesday evening
[..] the 12th instant, he apprehended the said George Wood< no role > and
William Giles< no role > at the Jolly sailor in Back Lane Ratcliffe
Highway - That he found in the hand of said Giles one of the
said Paste Knee Buckles and the other Buckle was lying on the
