and sleep in Your own". This Informant then asked Mrs. Hodges in the Shop
to sleep with this Informant or permit this Informant to sheep with Mr.
Hodges and her who Replied" no for that the Child was trouble some and
no harm would some to her this Informant" at this time it was 11 o'Clock,
and Hodges and Morris present. This Informant then proposed for all to
Stay up for that this Informant could not go to Bed alone. Upon this Morris
asked" if it was 11 o'Clock" and on being answered in the affirmative by Hodges,
Observed" if I dont make haste I shall be locked out for any Uncle locks
his Door at 11 oClock" and added that" he must get up early in the morning
in order to go on board some Ship," Morris accordingly went out after
which Hodges said to this Informant You had better now go the Bed" to
which this Informant replied a there was no use in her going to Bed as she could
not sleep on account of Captain Cooks absence" and Requested to go out to
get the Watchman to shew her where Mr Nugent lived supposing that
he (Nugent) could tell her where Cook wasThat Hodges said she
should not go out of his houseThat she must go and Stay in her own
Room" That he (Hodges) was much tired and could not stay up any longer
That Mrs. Hodges gave her a whole Candle with which she went up stairs
That she fastened her Room door with a Ribbon which she put through
a Key hole and fastened it to a Nail. Then sat down and Cried by the
fire, and finding herself sleepy went to Bed, after pulling off her outside
Petticoat, Shoes, Stays and Bonnett That she Cried till she fell asleep
which she thinks to be about 2 o'ClockThat she awaked about 3 o'Clock
when Morris was in her Body and holding her HandsThat this Informant
endeavoured to get from him, but he hold her fast until he had satisfied
himself, which was in about a MinuteThat the said Morris emitted
during the time she was struglingThat she cried out, and made every
Resistance in her powerThat she immediately go out of Bed and ran
down Stairs leaving Morris n her RoomThat she Knocked at Hodges's door
who made no answer That she went up Stairs again where she found Morris
