Middlesex to wit

The Information of John Nicholas< no role > Watter Servant
to Messrs. Gatfield and Wilson of Newgate Street
Hatters taken before me this 28th. day of Janry.
1783.

Who being on Oath says that on the sixth of December last in the
Evening he was sent [..] with [..] a Paper Hat Box
containing as he believes a dozen & half of Chips Hats four other
Hats and about six Gards of Persian, to the Plough in Princes
Street directed to Miss Cuthbert at Hadley. That he had charge
of a Parcel also at this time which he was to leave in Pall-
Malls. That near Hungerford Street in the Strand a Man came
up to this Informant and asked him "if his Name was not Billy
Cox and whether he did not live at Wells & Fishers" this
Informant answered No and believes told said Man that he lived
at Messrs. Gat fields and Wilsons in Newgate Street That when
they were near Northumberland House he thinks the said Man
asked to see the Direction on the Box and which this Informant
permitted said Man to see. That after said Man had read the
Direction he said that He Knew the person to whom it was
directed"That they then crossed the Street together and when
they came to the Golden Cross , the said Man wished this Infor-
-mant a Good Night and went up the Gate-way. And this
Informant further says he doth verily believe that a Person
new present who calls himself Lawrence Barew< no role > is the
identical Person that so came up to him and held the
Conversation with him as before stated. That after leaving
