This Examinant on his Oath Saith, that about the latter end of
April last, this Examinant in Company and Conjunction with
[..]

now in Custody and one Francis
Gray< no role >
who is now at large, attacked and stopt a Coach in Tottenham
Court road
in which was four or five Gentlemen who appeared
to be Foreigners and believes one of them to be Signior Placido
that they stole from them a few Guineas three pair of large
Silver Buckles a Gold Watch in a single Case which was taken
from behind one of the Gentlemen from the Seat of the Coach
That this Examinant with the said Stunnel and Gray and one Joseph
Caddie< no role >
also in Custody on the 18th. of May last to the best of his
recollection as to the time were coming down the Path way from
Islington
towards the Shepherd and Shepherdess
and near the
Posts by Farmer Dells they met four persons who were in Conversation
together That Caddie and Stunnel who were fore most past them
and Gray who was next to them on passing one of the Gentlemen who
just had mentioned to one of his Company something he had done
seized hold of the Gentleman by the Collar who was a stoutish
man and said "And I'll do you". On this the persons they met
defended themselves and A scuffle ensued among them all
That one of the persons they attacked snap't a pistol twice
at this Examinant and his Companions which missed fire
whereupon this Examinant fired a Pistol at the other party
but it took no Effect hereupon the party they met ran away
towards Islington
and this Examinant and his Companions
pursued them about seventy yards and overtook two of them
That Gray and Stunnel who were before overtook one of them
about Twenty or thirty yards before the other, and believes
that the person over taken by Stunnel and Gray was Mr.
Herd deceased. That this Examinant and Caddie overtook the
Hinder most whom Caddie threw down into a Ditch and then went
on to assist the others leaving this Examinant behind with the
Man he had thrown down who appeared to him to be a Servant
That this Examinant demanded the last mentioned persons Money
on his Refusal to give it he cut him with a Hanger, he believes
in the Hard and to then took from him five or six Shillings, a
Soldiers Pass or Furlough and a Bill of Expences at an Inn on
