Justices of the Peace
in and for the County of
Middlesex
the 11th. day of August 1781.
This Informant on his Oath saith that he is Shopman to
Michael Mitchell< no role >
Tobacconist
in Shoreditch
. That having
been requested by his said Master to search the Pockets of one
Richard Hardy< no role >
igwho worked for the said Michael Mitchell< no role >
and whom he Inspected of having at sundry times robbed
him of a Quantity of Tobacco, this Informant one the sixth day
of August instant on the said Richard Hardings< no role >

from his Work in the Evening accd. suspecting he had some
Tobacco concealed about him belonging to Mr. Mitchell
which he intended to Steal, desired the said Richard Hardy< no role >

to come back again into the Shop (he having left the same)
which he did. That this Informant took him into the
Counting House adjoining and in the presence of two other
Journey men who work for Mr. Mitchell searched the said
Richard Hardy< no role >
[..] and found in his great Coat Pockets
a Quantity of loose Tabacco of the weight of one pound
which this Informant says was the Property of the said
Mr. Mitchel and was stolen by him the said Richard
