An Inquisition Indented taken for our Sovereign Lord the King at London
that is to say at the parish of Saint Michael Queenhithe in the Ware of Queenhithe
in London aforesaid on the twenty fourth day of August in the thirty second year of the
reign of our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain Frances and Ireland
King defender of the faith and so forth before Thomas Shelton< no role > Gentleman Coroner forof our said
Lord the King for the City of London and borough of Southwark on view of the body of
Sarah Ward< no role > now here lying dead by the Oath of John Bate< no role > , Robert Wiseman< no role >
John Rogers< no role > , Peter Jabbes< no role > , Joseph Parker< no role > , Richard Pack< no role > , William Gilkes< no role > [..]
[..] Thomas Parish< no role > , Edward Jones< no role > , Richard Martin< no role >
John Phillips< no role > , Henry Palmer< no role > , and Joseph Sharp< no role > , good and lawful Men of the City of London aforesaid,
who being now here duly chosen sworn and charged to inquire for our said Lord the King when
how and in what manner the said Sarah Ward< no role > came to her death say upon their Oath
that the said Sarah Ward< no role > on the twenty first day of August in the year aforesaid being
in a certain room in the dwelling house of one John Ward< no role > situate and being in the parish and
Ward aforesaid in London aforesaid and [..] being near the fire place in the aforesaid room
wherein there was then a fire, It so happened [..] the Cloaths and wearing apparel of the said
Sarah Ward< no role > did then and there accidentally casually and by misfortune catch fire
and were consumed And the said Sarah Ward< no role > with the flames arising from the said
fire was then and there mortally burned of which said burning she the said Sarah Ward< no role >
did then and there die And so the Jurors aforesaid upon their Oath aforesaid do say
that the said Sarah Ward< no role > in manner and by the means aforesaid accidentally casually
and by misfortune was burned and killed In Witness whereof as well the said Coroner
has the said John Bate< no role > foreman of the said Jurors on behalf of himself and the rest
of his fellows in their presence have to this Inquisition set their hands and seals
the day year and place first above written
