the men at Work meaning some night men who were emptying
the privy and would came up that way and fasten it. that Dept
then went up stairs following her fellow servant who went into
the two pair of stairs back room whereas was Miss Tyler who had some
up stairs a few minutes before. That Dept fellow servant asked
Dept for the key of the two pair of stairs front room which Dept
gave to her and went up stairs Dept did not know what she
they was wanted forthat Dept waited in the Garnett there
quarters of an hour as the believes before Eliz: Wick came from her
young Mistress to her says she had [..] never to dept. knowledge stayed so lay with
Miss Tyler before that Dept sometimes during the while heard
Elizabeth Wicks< no role > and Miss. Tyler< no role > talk together and he is saw they
were together in the back room and that where Eliz: Wicks and Miss
Tyler to come up stairs to bed Dept heard she back room door opened
& shut says they then went to bed and it [..] wanted about
four minutes to one. Dept says between two and three O'Clock
Miss Tyler came and knocked at their room door and desired Betty
she other Maid to let her in and he was let in says she appeared
to be exceed agitated, and so soon as she recovered She sayed "You

" is [..] somebody dead in the room underneath; Dept declaimed" what in
"your room" & repeated it, and she then sayed she was in her fathers
room; that she slept there by her fathers desire and she had heard
the report of two Pistols in the room underneath, meaning in the
room she sayed to sleep in. Dept sayed she must have been dreaming
no she replied she was not asleep for the had not been in bed. Dept expressed a doubt of
what she sayed, and she replied she was sure it was so and if it was
anybody it was Wm. Edis She frequently exclaimed how people and
flame her and say it was her fault but what could she do but let
her brother know. Dept asked her what she meant, and she answd.
