that from a Misunderstanding of the Secretary to the said
Company they now required Twenty Shillings a year for the
Two Pieces of Ground instead of Ten.

Ordered that the Vestry Clerk do write to Mr. Thomas
Green at Ware and acquaint him therewith and desire to
know whether he chuses to pay Twenty Shillings a year for
the said Two Pieces of Ground, And in case of his Refusal
that the Parish decline from taking the same of the Company
at that Rent.

Pews

Some Enquiry being then made whether Mr. Batten had
been properly Seated in the Pew late Mr. Townsend's, It was
Ordered that the Church Wardens do wait on Mr. Batten and
offer him the use of the Pew for himself and Family during
his Continuance in the Parish, upon his making a reasonable
Compensation for the same.

Cistern in
North Church
Yard.

Mr. Church Warden Arch acquainted the Vestry that Mr.
Pearson had applied to have the Cistern in the North Church Yard
mended and repaired. And the Same was Ordered accordingly.

Ordered that from Midsummer next the Parish do pay
the Expence of laying in the Water to the said Cistern that
the Inhabitants may have the benefit thereof without any
denial from the said Mr. Pearson or any future Occupier of the
House now in his possession.

Then Mr. Church Warden Arch adjourned the Vestry
sine die.

Church Rate

At a Public Vestry held for this Parish on Tuesday the
Tenth day of September 1776 in the Vestry Room of the
said Parish pursuant to public notice given in the
Church for that purpose It is agreed by the Parishioners
and Inhabitants present that a Rate or Assessment be
made upon the Parishioners Inhabitants and other
Occupiers of Houses Lands Tenements Shops. Stalls &
in the said Parish for the necessary Repairs of the Church
