of that part of the Parish of Saint Botolph [..]
Aldgate which lies in the City of London and
which I am Vestry Clerk And I am directed by
to return you in Answer for the Information
the Committee appointed by the Honorable the
House of Commons to consider of the present
price of Provisions That the said part of the [..]
Parish which lies in London raises the necessary
Monies for the relief of its poor and maintain
employs them and acts in every other Matter
respecting them entirely independent of and dist [..]
from that part of the said Parish which lies in
County of Middlesex as if they were seperate
Parishes - That the Poor Rates in the said [..]
part of the said Parish are discretionary [..]
assessed on the several Persons rated according to
Abilities to pay as near as can be ascertained by
Vestry regard being had at the same time to the
Extent and Situation of the Premises in their
respective Occupations - That the said Rates
lately very much increased and are still ra [..]
increasing That for the half year ending the 10 [..]
October last they amounted to £2865-19-5 [..]
they are not made at any particular Sum in they
but upon a Calculation appear on an Average
amount to about 6s/3d
