Ann Nicholas< no role > the widow of Anthony Nicholas< no role >
deced maketh oath that her said late husband was a Foreigner by
birth as he has informed her & as She believes & that to her knowledge
or belief he never did any act to gain a Settlement in Great Britain
That in or about the year one thousand Seven hundred & forty She
this Deponent married one Isaac Kirk< no role > the Son of one Stephen
Kirk
< no role > a Staymaker both of whom have been long Since dead
That the said Stephen Kirk< no role > at the time of this Deponents marriage
with his said Son & for a long time before lived in & rented a house in
Greyhound Court in the Parish of Saint Clement Danes in the
City & Liberty of Westminster in the County of Middlesex of
the yearly Rent or Value of Thirty pounds & was Charged to &
paid parish taxes for the same as this Depont. has been informed
by her said late husband & verily believes & at which time this
Deponts said late husband Isaac Kirk< no role > & for many years before
lived with his said Father there as part of his Family & by means
thereof gained a legal Settlement there That to this Deponents
Knowledge or belief her said late husband Kirk never did any
Act to gain a Settlement for himself & that she this Deponent Since
his death hath not done any Act to gain a Settlement in her own
right save what She might have Acquired by Marriage with her
Said Second husband who as before Stated never did any act to
her Knowledge or belief to gain a Settlement in any place in
the Kingdom of Great Britain.
