Elizabeth Crooks< no role > the wife of William Crooks< no role > who is
lately gone away from her to Places unknown maketh oath that she
can give no Account respecting the Settlement of her said husband or
of his Parents that she this Deponent was born in the Parish of
St. James Clerkenwell in the County of Middlesex where her late
Father Benjamin Waters< no role > deced also rented a house of the yearly rent
of Twenty Pounds as she this Deponent has been informed by him and
believes & by means thereof gained a legal Settlement there and that
he did not afterwards to her knowledge or belief do any act to gain
a Settlement elsewhere that she this Deponent never lived as a hired
Servant for a year nor was ever bound apprentice nor ever did any
Act to gain a Settlement for herself save what she Acquired by Virtue
of her Marriage with her said husband whose Settlement is unknown
to her that she this Deponent hath a child named William George
Crooks
< no role > aged about Thirteen months the lawful Issue of this Deponent
by her said husband that she this Deponent well knows a Child
named Ann Crooks< no role > the Daughter of her said husband by a former
Wife deced aged about six years and who as this Deponent has been
Credibly informed & verily believes was born in the Parish of Saint
John Wapping in the said County of Middlesex & has
done no act to gain a settlement for herself & is likely to become Chargeable
to the Parish of St. Botolph without Aldgate in the said County and this
Deponent can give no Account respecting the Settlement of such last
mentioned Child's Mother.
