Humphry Jones< no role > Maketh oath That about forty one Years
ago he was duly bound to and Served the whole of his
Apprenticeship with John Jones< no role > in the Parish of Saint
James Westminister in the County of Middx Cabinetmaker
and by Means thereof as he is advised gained a legal settlement
there And this Deponent Saith that he never lived as a
hired Servant for a year Nor ever Paid any Poors Rates
or kings Taxes Nor ever Rented a house of Ten Pounds
a year or upwards nor ever did any Act to this Deponts.
knowledge or belief to gain a subsequent Settlement Save
and except Nevertheless that he this Deponent Subsequent
to his said Apprenticeship lived as a Lodger or Inmate
in the house of one Mrs. Elizabeth Vokins< no role > in Henrietta Street
in the Parish of Saint Paul Covent Garden in the said
County in the which house he this Depont. (among
other Inmates or Lodgers) had & enjoyed the Use & occupation
of a Room And also Part of a Shop wherein he Carried on
the Business of a Chandler for the space of two years & upwards
& for which this Depont. Paid twenty Pounds by the year Rent
But this Depont. Avers that during such his Residence
in the said house he this Depont. never Paid any Parochial
or other Taxes Nor was he ever Taxes or Charged for such
his Residence to his knowledge or belief.
