presents his Compliments to
Mr Alderman Clark and, having just been inspecting the
present condition of the Old Sewer under his own premises,
which the Workmen are now filling up he cannot but
wish, both as a Governor
and a Tenant
, that the Hospital
Surveyor should be directed immediately to examine into its
situation and stability, and to report to the Treasurer
without loss of time, whether any and what precautions
ought to be taken, (as well as by whom) before it be too late
for the security of the Hospital Estates;which in the
Opinion of experienced persons will be exposed to great
hazard that might now be easily prevented:And it
any thing arises which Mr Clark may think requires the
opinion of the Court Mr W ventures to suggest that it
might be highly prudent for him to request Mr Wright would
suspend filling up that part of the Sewer till the sense of
the Governors has been taken

We the under signed, having at the desire of the Inhabitants
of Bridewell Precinct
resident in New Bridge Street
and
Chatham Place
, carefully surveyed the Old Sewer within
their District, now filling up under the direction of the
Commissioner of Sewers, pursuant to the 35th. of Geo the 3d;
Report, that from Dr Sherson's House in New Bridge
Street to William Street, we find the said Sewer nearly
filled up with rubbish only; and we are informed that it
