Continued Thursday April 27th. 1797
And had Ordered that the Communion Plate belonging
to the Chapel of this Hospital should be cleaned and
repaired.
And had ordered that a Letter from Mr Sylas Palmer< no role >
whereby he proposed to take a further Lease of his
dwelling house and Premises upon the Terms therein
mentioned should be referred to the Surveyor and that
he should report his Opinion thereon to the next
Committee.
Wednesday March 1st
That the Committee had ordered that the granting
Leases of the Houses in Old Bethlem (the Leases of which
expired at Lady day) should be postponed and that the
present Tenants should be accepted as Tenants to the
Hospital at the same rents they then paid to their
Landlords.
That the Committee having taken into consideration the
Letter laid before them by the Surveyor which he received
from the Tenants in New Bridge Street had resolved
unanimously that the Lessees were bound to support
maintain and keep in repair the Premises as well in
the principals as in the foundations thereof as otherwise
agreeably to the Covenants in their Leases and that
any direct interference on the part of the Hospital at
present would be premature and highly improper.
