Continued Thursday 25th February 1796

Matenals sorted and that the Clerk should give Notice to the
Attorney of the former Contractor and his Sureties that the Workmen
would begin the same on the 25th. instant

And had ordered, that the Surveyor should give directions for
dividing the Room on the Ground floor in the Women's Prison for
the purpose of reading prayers to the Prisoners

At this Court Mr. Thomas Whipham< no role > Junior was nominated by Mr
Thomas Whipham< no role > to be a Governor of these Hospitals

Resolved that the Consideration of the above nomination be referred to
the House Committee

Bethlem
Rules & Orders


Pursuant to the Resolution of the last Court the Court took into
consideration the recommendation of the Bethlem Committee that the
restriction of £20 contained in the 38th. standing Rule and Order be extended
to £100 so far as regards the repairs at Bethlem Hospital

Resolved that the following words be added at the end of that Order "The
"said restriction of £20 to be extended to £100 so far as regards repairs only at
"Bethlem Hospital"

Election of Commees


A Motion was then made that this Court do agree with the
recommendation of the Bethlem Committee respecting the future election of
Committees and upon a Shew of hands there appeared to be eight Governors
for the question and five Governors against it whereupon the Treasurer (pursuant
to the 18th. Standing Rule and Order) declared the same to be carried in the
negative.

Fuel Saving of
Recommended.


Ordered that it be referred to the respective Committees to take into
consideration the made of saving Fuel as recommended by Count Rumford

£10 of Mr. Lock's Gift


Ordered that Thomas Fowle< no role > late Apprentice to Thomas Whitaker< no role > be
paid £10 out of Mr. Locks Gift

And the Court was adjourned
