Continued Thursday 4th February 1796

The Minutes of the Bethlem Committee of the 2d. February last were
and confirmed whereby it appeared

That the Committee had resolved that the Surveyor should lay before
the next Committee a particular and Estimate of the Repairs which
he judged necessary to be done to this Hospital in the present Year

And had Resolved that it be recommended to the next General
Court that the restriction of £20 contained in the 38th standing Rule
and order be extended to £100 so far as regards the Repairs at
Bethlem Hospital

And had recommended to the Court that so much of the 4th
and 6th Standing Rules and Orders as respection the election of
Committees be repealed and that the following regulations for
supplying vacancies upon Committees be adopted

"That so many Governors resident miles of London as are
"equal in number to those who go off annually from all the Committees be
"written to by the Clerk, according to their priority of Election as Governors
"14 days at the least before the choice of new Committees, signifying to
"them that they stand next in rotation to serve upon one of the
"Committeed for the ensuing year, and requesting an answer from
"them in writing before the election whether it will be agreeable to
"them to serve upon the Committees or not, That in case of their
"refusals so to do, or not answering such Letters, a sufficient number of
"Governors be named to fill up such Committees out of those who
"stand in rotation and have not served upon any Committee to supply
"the deficiency. That the names of the Governors thus appointed shall
"be put into one Glass and the Titles of the different Committees according
"to the number of Vacancies but put into another after which they
"shall be respecting drawn out against each other and the Committees
"formed accordingly and notice thereof given by the Clerk to each
"Governor elected.

"That at the April Court do report previous to the Elections
"the names of those Governors who have not attended their respective
"Committees twice during their first Year of duty and that such
"Governors be considered as having vacated their places in the Committees
"to which they belong unless a satisfactory excuse be made for them
