Continued Wednesday 30th: April 1794
The minutes of the Prison Committee of the 18th. March and the 3d.9th
and 29th. of April Inst. were read and confirmed whereby it appeared
That the Committee had ordered the Surveyor to prepare plans
and particulars for the repairs and alterations of the womens Prison
and the House adjoining
That having met to receive proposals for making the said alterations
and Repairs pursuant to several Advertisements they had accepted a
proposal from Messrs. Peynder
and Statford
for performing the whole
of the said works on or before the 30th of August next for £695
And had ordered the Surveyor to prepare the House late in the
possession of Thomas Allam< no role >
for the temporary confinement of
the women prisoners during the Repairs and alterations of the
Womens prison
That the Committee had directed the Surveyor to consider whether
the Buildings on the South west side of the Womens Prison
opening to the Church Yard might not be converted more commodious
with respect to air space and other advantages into a Men Prison
than the present and that in the mean time the repairs and
alterations of the Mens Prison should be suspended
Notice to Inmates Etc
Ordered that the Clerk do give immediate order to all inmates
and Lodgers in the Hospital to guilt the premises within one
month
The minutes of the Bethlem Committee of the 19th. March last were
read and Confirmed whereby it appeared
That after proper Advertisements the Committee had contracted
with Thomas Dalby< no role >
to supply the Hospital with Beef Mutton
and veal
from Lady day to Michaelmas next at 3s Pr: Stone
