Continued Thursday 25th. Novr. 1779.

afterwards carried into the Court of Aldermen by the
Chamberlain his Clerks or Officers or one of them have
been immemorially and invariably Sealed with the
aforesaid Seal of or belonging to the said Hospitals without
any Objection or delay And Pursuant to the said Order of
the 4th. day of November aforesaid without any reading or
further Examination until several Resolutions or Orders were
made by the Court of Common Councel and the Court of Lord
Mayor and Alderman of the said City in Consequence of
a Report made in the Mayoralty of John Wilkes< no role > Esqr to
a Common Council holden in the said City on the 25th. day
of October 1775 by a Committee appointed on the 16th. day of
May 1772 to enquire into the Right of the Common Council
of the said City to be governors of the Royal Hospitals which
Report Appears to have been signed by Mr. Alderman Townsend
Richard Oliver< no role > Esqr . (then an Alderman of the said City) and
five Members of the Common Council and at a Subsequent
Court of Common Council holden on the 4th. day of March 1778
It was Ordered that the Case or Box containing the Seal
usually Affixed to the Royal Hospital Leases should be in future
made secure by Locks with distinct Keys That one of those
Keys shod. be under the Care of the Lord Mayor for the time
being That one other of the said Keys shod. be under the
Care of the Court of Aldermen or any one of the Aldermen
or the Chamberlain of the said City as the Court of Aldermen
should Appoint and that the other of the said Keys shod. be in
the Keeping of the Court of Common Council or such Person or
Persons (being a Member thereof) as they should Appoint and
that the Committee Appointed for inquiring into the Right of
the Members of the Court of Common Council to be governors
of the Royal Hospitals shod. be requested to take under their
are the Key of the Seal of the said Hospitals or the Case or Box
wherein the same Key was contained and that the said Committee
or any one of the Commoners thereof should be desired to Attend.
