Continued Friday 21st. June 1751

Upon Reading a Report from the Grand Committee of Bethlem Hospital
with the Physitions, Surgeons, and Apothecarys that are Governors dated
the 7th. day of June 1751 under the hands of Dr. Richard Rawlinson< no role > , Mr
John Rily< no role > , Mr John Perkins< no role > , Mr John Lister< no role > This name instance is in a workspace. Mr Robert Waiter< no role > Dr.
Edward Hody< no role > , Doctor James Moure< no role > , John Lock< no role > Esq and Mr
John Whalley< no role > as follows Vizt

Apothecarys Shop to be
filled up


1Ordered that the Apothecarys Shop in this Hospital be forthwith filled
up as shall be directed by Dr. Moure and such Apothecarys who are Governors
as will please to Attend and Mr Winder the Apothecary lately chosen

2 Ordered that Mr Davies be desired to make an Estimate of the Expence
of making Cells in the Upper Story.

3Ordered it be Reported to the next Court that it is the Opinion of this
Comittee That an Additional Number of Cells be made for Patients
in the Upper Story.

4{Ordered it be Reported to the Court That it is the Opinion of This Comittee
that the preference be given to Patients at the Charge their Relations
before those who are upon the Charge of Parishes.

This Court doth Confirm the same with the Addition of these Words at the End
And enter'd on the List the same day.

Bethlem.. 10 Cells for men &
10for Women
to be added.


Also this Court doth Order That Ten Cells for Men and Ten for Women [..]
be made in the Upper Storey of Bethlem Hospital as the Grand Comittee shall direct.

Physitian One to be added


A Motion being made that one other Physitian be Elected as a joint Physitian for
the Service of the Hospitals of Bridewell and BethlemThe [..] Election
was moved and put and upon the holding up of hands Mr. President declared the
Majority to be for the Affirmative But a Poll being Demanded the Governors who
were for the Question remained in the Court and those against [..] ders into the
Dining room and Follow were Appointed Vizt Mr Alderman Asgill, Henry
Bambridge Burkridge
< no role > Esq , Mr Robert Kenshaw< no role > and Mr Benja. Gascoyne< no role >
who having Counted the Numbers Reported that the Number of Governors
who remained in the Court was 69 & of those in the Dining room 38.

Then the Main Question was put and carried in the Affirmative
Where upon It is Ordered that one other Physitian be Elected as a Joint
Physitian for the Service of the Hospitals of Bridewell and Bethlem

A Motion was made and the Question put That a third Physitian be
Added without a Salary which Passed in the Negative.
