Benefaction a book to be kept &
laid on the Table every Court}


Ordered That a book be kept for Entring Benefactions to these Hospitals and
that the same be laid upon the Table at every Court.

At this Court the following Benefactions were given for the use of Bethlem
Hospital Vizt.

Upon Reading a Report from the Comittee of this House bearing date the 13th.
day of Decr. instant under the hands of Robert Alsop< no role > Esq Aldr. Trear, Mr Chas
Cotton
< no role > , Mr Saml John< no role > , Phineas Check< no role > Esq, Mr George Verney< no role > , and Mr Deputy
Pycroft as follows Vizt.The Proposal of Robert Hardcastle of John Street
Golden Square Mason (referred by the Court 1st. Novr. last) being read Setting forthThat
he proposes to take a Lease of the Vacant Ground in Old Bethlem for 62 years the first
two Years at a Pepper corn rent and afterwards 3s P feet for so many feet as shall be in the
front Opposite Bakers buildings & to lay out in Substantial building within 2 Years £2000
And Mr Hardcastle being Ask't to Mend his Proposal Offered to take a Lease with
usual Covenants between the Governors & their Tents of a peice of poynd (formal
in Lease to Isabella Finch< no role > Abutting Nath upon Bethlem Street) from 6 feet Westcord
beyond the Bayiers Shop (held among other things by Dr Bosanquet assignee of
Sir Joseph Eyles< no role > ) to the East side of an Old Passage of 8 feet wide) containing in
front East & West 128 feet little more or less & in Depth from 6 feet Northwan clear
from the Windows of the House in Occupation of Dr. Bovanguet or his Undertents. to the Strait Line
intended to be made the front to Bethlem Street (Setting back 12 feet from the
front of the Bayiers Shop at the East end and 6 feet from the Old Passage,
which will leave the sd grod. intended to be Demissed in Depth from North to South
at the East end thereof 76 feet to a breek of 20 feet Westward & from thence 39 feet in all 115 feet or
thereabouts and at the West end 114 feet or thereabouts & to lay out within
2 Years £2000 in New building not less than 7 houses According to the 2d. rate
of building from next Laday for 62 Years at a Pepper corn rent for the first 2 Years
and £20 clear of Taxes for the residue of the sd Term. And being called in
again Offered to make the rent £25 P Accr clear of Taxesthe Comittee
having considered the same [..] are of Opinion
to Accept the said proposals Whereupon the sd Robert Hardcastle< no role > gave
a Guinea to the Poors box. All which is Nevertheless Submitted to the Judgmt
of the Court Audit is Ordered this Opinion be reported to the next CourtThis
Court having duly weighed and Considered the sd Report doth confirm the same
And Order that a abase be made to the said Robert Hardcastle< no role > Accordingly
