Upon reading the humble Petition of Thomas Cooks< no role > Weaver Setting forth
That he Served herself his Apprenticeship in this Hospital to Mr. John Smith< no role > late one
of your Worships Artsmaster s and the Remainder part thereof to Mr. James
Smith
< no role > now are of your Worships Artsmasters by Indre dated the 11th. day of June
1731 And by Order of Court the 13th. day of July 1748 he was on the Sixth day of
Septr. Instant made free of this City and is Set up for himself in his said Trade
at Mr. Morrells next Door to the Thistle and Crown in Denmark Court near
Exeter Charge in the Strand And the Court being in formed that the Comittee of
this House on the 8th.day of September 1748 imported the Book kept of
Apprentices behaviour and found no Complaint against himIt is Ordered
that Thomas Cowen< no role > Esqr . John Lock< no role > Esqr . Mr Saml. John< no role > three of the
Governors of these Hospitals or any two of them be desired to enquire whether
the said Thomas Cook< no role > be Set up in the said Trade and of his hopefullness therein
and to make their Report to the next Court.

At this Court the Psons hereunder Named were ordered to be made free of
this City having Served their Apprenticeship in this Hospital to the Artsmasters
hereunder written Vizt

At this Court the Several humble petitions of Philip Hilton< no role > Citizen &
Velvet Weaver and Abraham Phillips< no role > Citizen & Flowered Velvet Weaver was read
Setting forthThat there being two Vacancys of Artsmaster s in this Hospital in the
Room of Mr. William Spencer< no role > & Mr. William Philips< no role > who have resigned And the
Petrs. being ready & Willing to taken such a number of Apprentices as the Court shall
think fit & to keep their Appartmts. in repair with Glazing Plaistering & Whiting at
their own expence as is in usually done by the Artsmasters & to Comply with all Orders
of Court & Comittee made & to be made in relation to Artsmasters & praying to be
Elected Artsmasters in the room of Mr. Spencer & Mr. PhillipsAnd the question
being put that the said Phillips Hilton and Abraham Phillips< no role > be elected Artsmars.
of this Hospital They were Remine Contradicente Elected Artsmasters till the
next Election dayAnd it is Ordered (That upon their delivering Certificate
of their Settlement to the Clerk and produceing Copys of their Freedom of This
City) They be Admitted Accordingly upon giving Security as is Usuall entering
into the usuall Covenants with a Covenant to be added that they will not Set up
or use any Engine Looms in the Hospital and that the Journeymen which they
Shall employ shall be such has haver Served their Apprenticeships in this Hospital
And it is further Ordered That they have sent Appartments in this
Hospital as the Comittee of this House shall direct.
