Upon Reading a Report form the Comittee of this House bearing date the 4th. of
Novr. last under the hands of Edward Holloway< no role > Esqr Trear Doctor Richard Rawlinson< no role >
Mr. Samuel John< no role > Mr. Samuel Southouse< no role > and Mr. Robert Elliott< no role > as followsAt this
Comittee the Proposal of Joseph Sleath< no role > of Bridewell Precinct Victualler was read (which
was referred to them by Order of Court the 15th. of Octr. last) Setting forthThat he Proposes
to take a Lease of Two Messes at the East End of Tudor Street in Bridewell Precinct for
21 years to Comence form the time the Governors shall put them into Tenantable is given
to be used as one House at the Yearly Rent of £22 payable quarterly at the Compting House
of Bridewell Hospital and to Execute a Counter part of the said Lease to Contain the
usuall Covenants and a Covenant to Serve the Office of Chappelwarden when Ellected in
the usuall Manner and to pay to the Chappelwardens quarterly his properties with the
other Inhabitants in the Precinct of the Sumes which shall be rated at the usuall
Meetings towards the Charge of the Scavenger Watch and PoorAnd by Order of this
Comittee the Workmen brought in their Severall Estimates of the Charge of doing the
said Repairs amounting in the whole to £266And do Agree that the same shall not
Exceed that Sume and that if any Saveings can be made in any of the Articles they
shall be dedicatedAnd the said Houses being very much decayed by Standing
Empty many Years and not likely to be lett without repairing This Comittee haveing
Considered the whole Matter are of Opinion that the said Repairs should be done
at the Charge of the Hospital and that then a Lease be made to the said Joseph Sleath< no role >
According to his ProposalAll which is Nevertheless Submitted to the Judgement
of the Court And it is Ordered that this Opinion be reported to the next CourtThis
Court haveing duely Weighed and Considered the said Report doth Confirm the same
And order that a Lease be made to the said Joseph Sleath< no role > accordingly.

Upon Reading the Humble Petition of Jonathan Granger< no role > of the Parish of
Alhallows Barking London Cooper Setting forthThat 19th. of Novr. 1741 he Agreed
with the Governors for a Lease of the Vaults under Fowkes Court Tower Street for
11 Years from Christmas then next at the Yearly Rent of £50 clear of Taxes with a
Provisoe that on 6 Months Notices on either side before the Expiration of the first 7
Years the Lease to be Void for the Remr. of the Term of which there were 6 Years to
come last ChristmassThat the Petitioner has paid the Rent up to Middsr. last
and being desireous to have the Term enlargedand praying the Governors to
Order a Lease to be made to him under the same Rent and Covenants Except the
Provisoe for 11 Years from Christmas nextIt is Ordered that the said Petition
be referred to the Comittee of this House to Consider thereof and to Report their
Opinion thereon to the Court.
