Beadles Gra ½ ye Xmas 1747


Upon Reading the humble Petition of the 4 Beadles of this Hospital for their
usuall Gratuitys of Forty Shillings a peice in respect of the half year Ending & Xmas
last for that their Sallarys are but smallIt is Ordered that the Clerk of
these Hospitals do give and pay unto them Forty Shillings a peice to be Allowed him
in his next Account.

Upon reading the Humble Petition of the 3 Beadles or Baskett Men of the
Hospital of Bethlem for their usual Gratuitys of Twenty Shillings a peice in respect
of the half year ending at Christmas last for that their Sallarys are but Small
It is Ordered that the Clerk of these Hospitals do give say unto them Twenty Shillings
a peice to be Allowed him in his next Account.

Upon reading a Report from the Comittee of this House bearing date the 13th. of
Janry 1747/8 under the hands of Edward Holloway< no role > Esqr s. Trear Doctor Richard Rawlinson< no role >
Mr. John Lee< no role > , Mr. John Fortys< no role > Mr. William Hunt< no role > and Mr Robert Elliott< no role > as follows
At this Comittee the Petition of Jonathan Granger< no role > of the Parish of All hallows
Barking London Cooper (which was referred to them by Order of Court the 10th. of
Decr. lat) was read Setting forthThat 19th. Nover 1741 he Agreed with the Governors for
a Lease of the Vaults under Fowkes Court Tower Street for 11 years from Xmas then next
at the yearly rent of £50 clear of Taxes with a provisoe that on 6 Months Notice in either
Side before the Expiration of the forst 7 years the Lease to be Void for the Remainder of
the Term of which there were 6 years to Come last XmasThat the Petr. has paid
the rent up to Middr. last and being desireous to have the Term enlargedprayed
a Lease to be made to him under the same Rent and Covenants (except the provison)
for Eleven Years from Xmas lastThis Comittee haveing Considered the said
Petition are of Opinion to grant him a Lease According to the Prayr of the said
Petition upon which the said Jonathan Granger< no role > gave a Guinea to the Pears box
All which is Nevertheless Submitted to the Judgment of the Court And it is
Ordered that this Opinion be reported to the Court.This Court having duly Weighed
& considered the said Report deth confirm the said.

Locks Gift}

Upon reading the humble Petition of John Robertson< no role > Weaver Setting forth
That he Served his Apprenticeship in this Hospital to Mr John Burnham< no role > one
of the Artsmaster s by Indre dated the 18th. Decr 1730 & by an Order of Court 17th. July 1739
he was on the 30th. of April last made free of this City and is Set up for himself in his
said Trade at Mrs Greens in Angell & Porter Alley in Golden Lane old street And the Court being
informed that the Comittee of this House on the 13th. day of Janry Instant inspected
the Book kept of the Apprentices behaviour and found no Complaint against him
It is Ordered that Mr. Wm. Cooper< no role > Mr. Wm. Singleton< no role > & Dr. Rawlinson
three of the Governors of these Hospls or any two of them be desired to enquire
whether the said John Robertson< no role > be setup in his Trade and of his hopefulness therein
and to make their Report to the Court.

Mr. Upington Bracee< no role > one of the Governors of the Sr . Hospital reported to this
Court that in Pursuance of an Order of Court the 10th. of Decr. last He and Mr. John
Forty
< no role > another of the Governors of Mart. Hospitals had made enquiry and found that
Marmaduke Parsley< no role > who Served his Apprenticeship in this Hospital is Setup for
himself in the Trade of a Weaver and has the Character of a Diligent and Sober Man
It is Ordered that the Steward of this Hospital do [..] give and pay unto the
said Marmaduke Parsley< no role > Ten pounds out of Mr. Locks Gift to be Allowed him in his
next Account.
