Upon reading the humble Petition of the four Beadles of this Hospital
for their usual Gratuitys of Forty Shillings a peice in respect of the half year
ending at Christmass last for that their Salarys are but small It is Ordered
that the Clerk of these Hospital do give and pay unto them Forty Shillings
a peice to be allowed him in his next Account.

Upon reading the humble Petition of the three Beadles or Baskettmen
of the Hospital of Bethlem for their usual Gratuitys of Twenty shillings
a peice in respect of the half year ending at Christmass last for that their
Salarys are but small It is Ordered that the Clerk of these Hospitals
do give and pay unto them Twenty Shillings a peice to be allowed him in
his next Account.

At this Court Andrew Cripps< no role > who served his Apprenticeship in this
Hospital to Mr. Thomas Machin< no role > one of the Artsmasters by Indre dated the
27th. of Septr. 1732. was ordered to be made free of this City.

Upon reading the humble Petition of Stephen Kyte< no role > Weaver setting forth
That he served his Apprenticeship in this Hospital to Mr. James Cundet< no role > late
one of the Artsmaster s by Indre bearing date the 10th. day of Septr. 1723 . and by
and Order of Court the 31st. of Octr. 1739 he was on the 4th. of Decr. last made
free of this city and is now set up for himself in his said Trade at Mr. Biggs
in Lambeth Street Goodmansfields facing the Anchor & Marshall
And the Court being informed that the Comittee of this House on the
21st. day of this instant October inspected the book kept of Apprentices behaviour
and found no Complaint against himIt is Ordered that Mr. Wm. Fletcher< no role >
Mr. Richard Bridgman< no role > & Mr. Robert Hall< no role > three of the Governors of these Hospitals
or any two of them be desired to inquire whether the said Stephen Kyte be
set up in his said Trade and of his hopefullness therein, and to make this
Report to the next Court.

Upon reading a Report from the Comittee of Bridewell Hospital bearing date
the 21st. day of this instant February under the hands of Edward Holloway< no role > Esqr
Trear. Mr. Robert Henshaw< no role > , Mr. Mark Holman< no role > , Dr . Richard Rawlinson< no role > ,
Mr. Allen Webb< no role > , Mr. Robert Hall< no role > & Mr. William Fletcher< no role > , in the words and
figures following Vizt.This Comittee having often Ordered Joseph Withers< no role >
Hempdresser one of the Artsmasters of this Hospital to settle with the
Steward the Account of the Prisoners Labor and he attending this day The
Account made up by him was laid before the Comitteewhereby he
charges himself with £52..12..4 for the Prisoners labor (at 4d. P diem
for a man and 2e. for a woman or Boy) from the 22d. Novr. 1737. the day
he was admitted Artsmaster to 30th. Septr. 1739But thereout crave a
deduction of £28..9..3 for his charges in looking after the Prisoners and
keeping them at work before he was admitted Artsmaster Viztr. from
16th. June to said 22d. Novr. 1737. without allowing any thing for their
labor during that time so that he makes only £24..3..1 remaining due to
the Hospital for the Prisoners labor from 16th. June 1737. to the 30th. Septr. 1739
which is two years and about three months.

The Steward by his Account charges the Hempdresser for the Labor as follows
From 16th. June to 22d. Novr. 1737. (for which Withers reakons nothing)18..17..2.
& from that time to 30th. Septr. 1739 (wch. Mr. Withers reckons but £52..12..4)57..8..10

And besides this the Steward says that during that time there were Prisoners
in the Hospital able to work whome the Hempdresser could not or would not
employ whose labor would have amounted to £64..4..8 moreAnd it is
Ordered that this be reported to the next CourtThis Court having
sent for the said Joseph Withers< no role > but he being not to be found It is Ordered
that he have notice given him to attend the next Court.
