Upon reading the humble Petition of Thomas Stevens< no role > of Southwark Carpenter
settingforthThat he is desirous to take of the Govrs. of this Hospital
a wharfe Ware house and two stables called Pigskey in Bridewell Precinct
late in the Occupation ofPether being part of the possessions of the
said Hospital and proposes to take a Lease there of for the Term of 61 years
to commence from Lady day next 1737 at the Rent of £20. P Ann payable
quarterly clear of all Taxes and to lay out £100. in repairing the premes
and with such Covenants as are usually contained in the Leases from the
Govrs. to their Tenants at Bridewell and with a Covenant to pay to the
Chappell Wardens of the Precinct for the time being any Sum or Sums of
money quarterly in proportion with other Inhabitants in the said precinct
towards the Charge of the Scavengar Watch and Poor of the said Precinct
as shall be rated or assessed from time to time at the usual meetings of the
Chappell Wardens & Inhabitants of the said Precinct and to pay a fine of
£50. and execute a Counterpart of the said LeaseAnd praying a
Lease according to his said proposalsIt is Ordered that it be referred
to the Comittee of this House to consider of the said Petition and to report
their opinion therein to the Court.
