Upon reading a Report from the Comee of their house under
the hands of John Tayler< no role > Esqr . Trear . Mr. Christr. Bateman< no role > Mr.
Depty . Robert Stamper< no role > , Benedict Ithell< no role > Esqr . Mr. John Fellowe< no role >
sr . Lavigne Esqr sr . Samuel Clarke< no role > Marm: Alington< no role > Esqr Coll
George Meggott< no role > Mr. Samuel Noble< no role > Lawr Parker< no role > Esqr & Mr. John Sketton< no role >
dates 17th. day of this Instant February as followeth Vizt.

This Comee in pursuance of an Order of Court of the 4th instand
took into Consideration the Petition of Elizabeth BlackStone< no role > the widdow
of Richard Blackstone< no role > deced late Surgeon of these hospitals praying
a Gratuity in respect of her Said husbands extraordinary Services
upon inquiry this Comee finds that forths first two years after ye said
Mr. Blackstone was elected he reced ye usual Salary which was £20 P and
besides his Bills & that afterwards he agreed to take £60. P Annum for his
Salary & in Liew of his Bills & that dureing his time till lately ye Convict
prisoners Sent to this hospital were numberous & many of them diseased wth
must necessarily occasion expence to the Surgeon as well as his frequent
attendance which is ust likely to happen to his Successors by reason the
Governours have refused to receive any more [..] into their hospital
And this C omee being Satisfied that the Petrs. husband left her in very mere
circumstances & as he had reced his Salary to Michar last & happened
to dye before Xmas there is nothing due to him or to her in his right from the
hospitalsThis Comee is of Opinion togive her Thirty pounds
towards her Support All which nevertheless is Submitted to the Judgment
of the CourtThis Court doth Conferme the Same & Order
that the Clerk do pay ye Petr. Thirty pounds to be allowed him in his
next account.

This Court being cheifely called for ye elecon of a Porter to ye
hospital of Bethlem in the room of Benjamin Brockden< no role > deced The
humble Petitions of the Several Candidates for ye place were read in the
Order following viztJames Male< no role > John Parkman< no role > Jno. Guest< no role > and Wm
Brandling
< no role > & they being Severally put in nomination the plurality of hands
Planily appeared to be for the said James Male< no role > & William Brandley< no role >
the Court being divided in their Opinions between male & Brandling
which of them two had the Majority of hands The Governours who
were for male were desired to withdraw into the Chappel Then Tellers were
appointed vizt. Richard Snow< no role > Esqr & Mr Charles Hosier< no role > for male
And sr . Samuel Clarke< no role > & Mr. William Grubb< no role > for Brandling who being
returned Reported the number for male to be 54 and the number for
Brandling to be 46 So that the majority being for the Said James
Male
< no role > This Court doth thereupon declare the said James Male< no role >
elected and doth Order that the Said James Male< no role > be admitted
to be Porter to the Said hospital of Bethlem untill the next
electon day & to have the same Salary & allowance as were
given to the Late Porter to Comence from
