The Sub Committee appointed to manage the Petition Praying
this Committee might be heard against the Bill lately brought into
Parliament by the Society of Lincolns Inn
for declaring the same
and the Lands and Tenements within the limits and bounds then
in the County of Middlesex
not to be liable to Parochial Duties or
Buthons Reporting that the Honourable the House of Common
had adjourned the second Reading of the said Bill for Six months
Ordered that the said Committee be requested to wait on such
Gentlemen that are in Parliament and were Assisting in this
business with the thanks of this Committee for such their
Assistance
This Committee being informed by the Commissioners for Pave
Westminster
Etc that leave is given by the House of Commons
to bring
in a Bill for Excluding Grosvenor Square
from the Powers of these
Commissioners which will immediately throw an Additional Burth
upon every other Parish and place within the Commissioners Jurisdiction
And this Committee being apprehensive that the Exempting any set
of Inhabitants from the same Laws to which all the Parishoners at
large are subjected may be of dangerous example and tend to
introduce applications of the like kind from all other Squares and
Opulent Places and thereby to introduce unequal Laws and
heavier Birthens on the other parts of the respective Parishes
wherein such Squares and Places are situate and have an immed [..]
Tendency to affect the Quota which every Parish contributes to
the Expence of-This Committee therefore represent their
Sentiments to the Commissioners for Paving Westminster
Etc and
do request the said Commissioners to make such application
to Parliament to oppose the said Bill and all attempts of the
like kind in such manner as they shall think Proper
