The Examination of Ann Geale< no role > Widow lodging in
the Parish of St. Clemt. Danes in the County of Middx
taken the 14th. Day of Novr. 1740 Who upon her Oath
saith that abt. 20 Years ago she was married at the
Parish Church of St. Sepulchres London to her late
Husband Jno. Geale< no role > & that upwards of 12 Years ago
her sd. Husband Rented a House in Devereux Court
in the sd. Parish of St. Clemt. Danes of the yearly Rent
of £30 & lived in the same for the Space of two Years or
Thereabouts & there dyed And that after the Death of
her sd. Husband Jno. Geale< no role > she went & lived with one Mr.
Smith Master of a free School at Chesilhurst in
the County of Kent who was to give her Meat Drink
Washing & Lodging for her learning 10 Girls which
were in the sd. free School & continued to live under that
agreemt. with the sd. Mr. Smith for the Space of Ten
Years And further upon her Oath saith yt. she has not
been Married to any other Man since the Death of her
sd. late Husband Jno. Geale neither hath she Rented £10.
a Year Paid Parish Taxes lived with any Person as a
Yearly hired Servt. for the Space of one Year or otherwise
gained a Settlemt. in any other Place to her Knowledge
or beleife.
