The Examination of Jno. Stringfellow< no role > living in the
Parish of St. Clemt. Danes in the County of Middx
taken the third Day of Novr. 1740 Who upon his
Oath saith yt. he lived a Yearly hired Servt . with one
Mr. Wm. Whitfeild< no role > at the Dukes Head in Devereux
Court in the sd. Parish of St. Clemt. Danes for the Space
of one Year & upwards at the Yearly Wages of 4 Pounds
he at that Time being a Singleman & not having any
Wife or Child & hath left his sd. Service abt. Nine Year
to his now best Remembrance & further saith yt. since
he left his sd. Service he hath not rented ten Pounds a
Year pd. Parish Taxes lived with any other Person as a
Yearly hired Servt. for the Space of one Year or otherwise
gained a Settlemt. in any other Place to his knowledge
or beleif. That his Wife now lyes Inn & he being Poor is
not able to maintaine her at this Time
