The Examination of Thos. Marshall Passed from
the Parish of St. Giles in ye. Fields in the County of
Middx by Order. bearing date 6th. June last Taken
ye. 17th. Day of July 1740 Who upon his Oath saith
yt. abt. 14 Years ago he was bound & Served 7 years
Apprentiship to one Mr. Jno. Brooks< no role > in Clements
Lane in the Parish of St. Clemt. Danes in the
County of Middx Water Gilder , And this Examint.
further upon his Oath saith yt. he hath not since
he left his sd. Master Rented £10 a year Paid
Parish Taxes lived with any Person as a yearly
hired Servt. for the space of one year or
otherwise gained a Settlemt. in any other Place
to his knowledge or beleife, that he hath a
Wife & two Childn. (to wit) Jno.< no role > aged abt. 7
years & Wm.< no role > aged upwds. of 3 years & being
Poor & lame is not able to maintaine himselfe
& Family
