of the Sd Hospll: bearing date the 25th: day of May
1703: Appeared the 27th: day of the Same Month at the
Doore of the Church of St. Thomas, and Declared to the
Woppll George Brawston< no role > Doctor. of Lawes (Surrogate to the
Chanceller of the Rt. Reverend Father in God Peter Lord< no role >
Bishop of Winton) now Coming to hold in that Church the
Annuall Visitacon of the Said Bishop for the Deaconry of
Southwarke That the Said Church is Scituate within the Scite
of the Said Hospll and by Vertue of Certain Grants made by
King Edward the Sixth is Vested in the Major Cornovall and
Citizen of the City of London the Chief Governor of the Said
Hospll. and is thereby Exempted from all and all Manner of
Archiepiscopall Episcopall and Archdiaconall Visitation or
Jurisidiccon whatsoever And that by reason thereof the Said
Thomas Wright< no role > diff in the Name of the Governors of the Sd Hospll
Protest against any Visitation now designed or intended to be
Hold or made in the Said Church And declared that they
absolutely dissient thereof

To which the Said Surrogate Antveral and declared That he
did not Appoint this Visitation to be hold in the Said Church
neither Does he come Victher to Exercise Assumm or Challange
any Jurydiccon in or over that Church as it Relater to the Said
Hospll nor to Occasion any Doubt, Question or Disputs as to the
Exeception of the Said Church from Such Vicitation or Jurisdiction
And that the Visitaion was Appointed to be held there had not
been to Appointed but by Reason that the Church of St Saviour
(were the Same hath been here before isually held) is now reguiring
and not fitt for the Performing of Divine Service and hearing
a Certain, nor hold my Visitation therein, And by reason of
the Shortnesse of the time since he understood the holding of
this Visitation in this Church as aforesaid would be opposed by
the Said Governors noe other Church could be Conventionly
appointed And he Further declared that if the mis intended
Visitation be Permitted by the Governors to be was hold in the
said Church of St. Thomas the Same Shall not he drawne into
Example nor made use of as a Brenider or ever given in Eaden
for bringing or Subjecting the Sd Church to or under the Vicitation
or Jurisdiction of the Bishopps of Winton or his Successers nor [..]
is any Sort Lessen or Prejudice the Right of the left Church to
he Exemp it therefrom But that the Right of the Sd Church
to be Exempt from Such Visitation and Jurisdiction Shall be
and remaine of the Same Voice and Effect in the Same should
have been this Viciation had in been appointed or hold in the Sd. Church as afore
