John Darnan< no role > Son of Frances became entitled to the lease by
the Will of his father. In 1786 he mortgaged these premises to
Messrs. Kirkpatrick of the Isle of Wight (Newport) who by their
Agent Mr T. A Minchin of Gosport have paid the Hospital rent.
The Premises were underleased by Darnan to a Mrs Frazer at
£80 P Ann.

If the Premises arearr a ruinocer Condition ought not a
Surveyor to take an Account on or before the 5 April, of the
State they are in, Serve the Lease holdin well a Notice to do
the needful Repairs, or to pay such a Sum of Money as two
Competens Judges shall deem fair Etc guitable.The occupy of
Tenants either have had, or ought to have had Notice from the
Lesses to give as Lady day O.S.

Sir

I address you, as Agent to Messrs. Kirkpatrick of Newport Isle
of Wight) by whom the premisses belonging to this Hospital at
Gosport in lease to the late Frances Darnan, have been held
on Mortgage for some years, to inform you that on a Survey
of the premises taken a few Day ago by Mr John Binsted< no role > by
order of Mr. A. Lindegreen of Portsmouth, he reports, that
the [..] old Tenements are in a bad State, & have not
therefore been kept up with the necessary Reparatious [..]
guilded by the Covenant in the Lease; & as the Lease has been
Suffered to expose without these necessary Repairs havg been
done, Mr Lindegreen recommends, & the Treasurer of this
Hospital acquiesces that each party shall appoint a Surveyor
or competent person to assess the value of the Repairs that are
wantg to put the Premises in such a state as they ought to have
be conditioned up in. As this proposal is afair & guir one
I have to desire you to signify it to Messrs. Kirkpatrick
& on the Receipt of then Answer to Communicate well Mr.
Lindegreen on the Subject.The occupying Tenant
ought to have had Notice to quit at Lady day last, which
Mr Beneted reports he has not Should the Hospital in
Consequence suffer any Loss or Damage by his holding ever
it would also be just & equitable for the Lease holding to make
comprises at refer it.
