St Thos. Hospl. July 16: 1742
Mr. Smith
Upon reading the Report of the Gentn: who held
Courts at your House, the Grand Commee took Notice that the
House & out Houses you hold of the Hospl. were far from being
in such Repair as they expected they should be & directed me
to give you Notice that you immediatly repair them as
obliged by your Lease: if you have any design to renew,
it will be but a bad Recommendation that the Premisses,
of which you are the Tenant, are in so bad Condition; besides
the back wardness in paying your Rent you are now behind
hand one year & 3 Qurs. Inspect you will soon make a large
Payment, & hope you will not force good Landlords to make
use of any Methods they would otherwise be unwilling to do.
