THESE ARE TO CERTIFY, That at the General Quarter Sessions
of the Peace of our Lord the King, held for the Said County of
Devon , at the Castle of Exon , on the 25th Day of
April, in the Year of our Lord 1781the Justices of and
for the County of Devon aforesaid did, in Pursuance of an Act of
Parliament made in the Third and Fourth Years of the Reign
of their late Majesties King William and Queen Mary,
intituled, "An Act for the better repairing and amend-
"ing the Highways, and for settling the Rates of
"Carriage of Goods," asses and rate the Prices of Land-
Carriage of Goods as follows:

NO Carrier within the said County shall have, or take, more than Eight-pence,
for Carriage of One Hundred Weight of Goods or Wares (reckoning One
Hundred and Twelve Pounds to each Hundred) to any Place not exceeding Ten Miles
from the Market-town or Place where the same shall be delivered him, and so pro-
portionably for every Half-hundred, [..] rter of a Hundred, or any greater or less
Weight: and also proportionably [..] Distance.

ALSO, No Waggoner or CarrI [..] r Carriage by Waggon of any Goods,
weighing a Quarter of a Hundred or upwards, from London to Honiton , shall take more
than at the Rate of Seven Shillings and Sixpence a Hundred, (reckoning One Hun-
dred and Twelve Pounds to each Hundred); and if under, a Quarter of an Hundred,
not more than Three Half-pence by the Pound; and so proportionably to any other
Town or Place within the said County, according to its Distance from London.

ALSO, No Carrier shall have or take, for Carriage of any Goods on Horseback,
weighing a Qaarter of an Hundred or upwards, to any Market-town or Place within
this County, whose Distance doth not exceed One Hundred Miles from the Market-
town or Place where the same shall be delivered, more than after the Rate of Six
Shillings a Hundred, (reckoning One Hundred and Twelve Pounds to the Hundred);
and if under a Quarter of an Hundred, not more than Three Half-pence a Pound;
and so proportionably for any greater Weight, or greater or less Distance.

ALSO, No Waggoner or Carrier shall have or take, for Carriage by Waggon of
any Goods weighing a Quarter or an Hundred or upwards, to any Market-town or
Place within this County, whose Distance does not exceed One Hundred Miles from the
Market-town or Place where the same shall be delivered, more than after the Rate of
Four Shillings a Hundred, (reckoning One Hundred and Twelve Pounds to the Hun-
dred); and if under a Quarter of an Hundred, not more than One Penny a Pound;
and so proportionably for any greater Weight, or greater or less Distance.
