CITY OF YORK .
At the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace of our Sovereign Lord the King, new held at the Guildhall of the said
City in and for the said City, and County of the same City, on Friday the 27thDay of April in the
Twenty first Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord King GEORGE the Third over Great-Britain, and

Esquires , Aldermen of the same City, and others, their Fellows, Aldermen of the said City,Justices assigned to keep
the Peace of the said Lord the King in and for the City aforesaid, and County of the same City; and also to hear
and determine divers Felonies, Trespasses, and other Misdemeanors committed within the said City and County of
the same, and so forth.

BY Virtue of a late Act of Parliament, intitled, An Act for the better Repairing and Amending the High-
ways , and for settling the Rates of the Carriage of Goods, his Majesty's Justices of the Peace of the said
City of York , and County of [..] same City, at the said Quarter Sessions assembled, have assessed and
rated, and do assess and rate, the Price of all Land-Carriage of Goods whatsoever, to be brought into the said
City of York , by any common Waggoner or Carrier, at the respective Rates and Prices following: That is to
say,

From Askrigg to York , for each Stone Weight, Fivepence.
Beverley to York , for each Stone Weight, Threepence Halfpenny
Bradford to York , for each Stone Weight, Threepence.
Bedal to York , for each Stone Weight, Threepence.
Bridlington to York , for each Stone Weight, Fourpence.
Colne to York , for each Stone Weight Fourpence.
Durham to York , for each Stone Weight, Sevenpence.
Doncaster to York , for each Stone Weight, Fourpence, and for each Pack, at fourteen Pounds to the
Stone, Four Shillings.

Wiggan to York , for every twelve Pounds Weight of Pewter, Sixpence.
Whitby to York , for each Stone Weight, Fivepence.
Yarm to York , for each Stone Weight; Fourpence.

AND it is ordered, That these Rates be printed and distributed about the City; and that a Copy thereof
be hung up in some public Place in the same City, to which all Persons may resort for their Information
And, to the End, that no common Waggoner or Carrier may be ignorant of the Law in this Behalf, they are
hereby required to take Notice, That none of them is or are to take for Carriage of any Goods and Merchan-
dizes, above the Rates and Prices hereby set, upon Pain to forfeit for every such Offence, the Sum of Five
Pounds, to be levied by Distress and Sale of his and their Goods, by Warrant of any two Justices of the Peace ,
where such Waggoner or Carrier shall reside, in Manner as by the said Act is appointed, to the Use of the
Party grieved.
