The Information of William Langly< no role >
taken before me this 5th. day of Octr..
1768

Who being upon Oath says that on or about the 3d. ofAugtSepr. last
in the Afternoon he saw his late Master John Stoddart< no role > in perfect Heath
says that about six o'Clock he went out says that about 12 in the
Night he was brought home by three Men and one Woman that
he was then very bloody and Wounded in different parts says he
asked him if he had been Robbed that his Master replied that he was
a Dead Man that he had only lost his Watch says that he told him
that he had been Attackt by two Villains that their first Salutation was
Damn your Blood your Money or Life and that one of them
Fought him fair but that the other Cut him in several places
and that when he had got the better of the one the other stabbed him
under the breast says that his Master likewise informed him that he
had pulled one of the Men's Coats off and pulled his Shirt over his head
says that after he had called a Surgeon to assist his Master he went
with a Person now present who calls himself Miles Hoddy a Constable
& who was then Constable of the Night to the place where according to
the description of his said Master he had been Attackt says that he there
found a hatt a knife and two Wiggs now produced and also his
Master's Watch Chain and Seals says that the said Mr. Hoddy found a
Coat now produced says that his said Master contained He about
a fortnight from that time and then Died as he believes from the
Injuries that he recd. as aforesaid say that on shewing the said to Mr.
Stoddart he declared that the owner of that hatt was the Person that
Stabbed him
