Whereas the Constable Churchwardens Overseers of the poor Surveyors
of the Highways and other Ancient Inhabitants of the parish of Saint
Mary White Chapel in the said County Comprised within the weekly Bills
of Mortality in pursuance of the Statute made in the Second year of our Late
Lord and Lady King William and Queen Mary Intituled an Act
for paving and Cleansing the Streets in the Citys of London and Westminster
and Suburbs thereof and out parishes in the County of Middlesex and so forth
Did on Tuesdayon the Easter Week being the twelfth day of April
last make Choice of Nominate and Appoint you the said William Newman< no role >
an able Tradesman Inhabiting within the said Parish to Serve as one of the Scavengers
or Officers for to Collect the money to be raised within the said parish for the
payment of the Raker Employed to Cleanse and Carry away the dirt dust
Ashes fifth and Soil out of the Lanes Streets Alley's and other open passages
within the said Parish for this Present year 1737 and untill another be chosen and
Setled in your place

Therefore wee whose hands and Seals are
hereunto sett two of his Majestys Justices of the peace for the County aforesaid
Inhabiting in the said parish being within the Limitts of our Jurisdiction do
Approve and Confirm their said Choice and require you said William
Newman
< no role > to take upon you the sd. Office and duty within seven days
after the date hereof and notice to you given upon pain to forfiet Ten pounds
the penalty in the said Act mentioned to be paid by every person refusing
to take upon from the Office aforesaid Given under our hands and Seals
